Snowy Mornings, Warm Pizza

Ptarmigan Trail, Silverthorne, CO

What a morning! I wish I had my snowboarding gear with me as some of the resorts recorded 10 inches overnight of fresh snow! Either way, Stella and I were very happy to have been able to get out on the trail. Even after living up for years I can’t believe I’ve never done this trail before. It has AMAZING views the whole time and it’s pretty easy to get to. Through the fog you can see the sun peak through the clouds and shine over Lake Dillon.

From the parking lot until you get really into the trail you cross a residential private road. I kept Stella on leash during this part as we passed some beautiful mountain houses. The trail was well marked and easy to follow. It was a pretty good incline. I think it was to our advantage that it was a bit overcast. I can imagine this trail could get quite windy. We didn’t have a ton of time this morning so we only hiked about 1.5 in, so 3 miles total. According to AllTrails the in and out should be 4.6 miles.

To travel home we took I-70 east. One of our absolute favorite places to pick up pizza is Beau Jo’s in Idaho Springs. They are truly unique in the area and so good! They serve a lot more than just pizza, but the pizza is so good it’s all I ever get. Also you get dessert served with it. Off of their Specialities Pizza Menu I ordered the Hipster. I’ve been on a big fruit on pizza kick and this came with pineapple. On their mountain pie crust it came with garlic oil sauce, spinach, green peppers, pepperoncini peppers, pineapple, ricotta and mozzarella cheese! Sweet, spicy and salty!

So good! So savory! Hit the spot on a cold day. They were also incredibly quick too. I was able to order online when I left the trail and it was ready for me when I got there.

Okay so I mentioned it comes with dessert. Well! The best thing about their mountain crust is how much there is! They send you home with honey to put on top of it. I’ve never had this at any other pizzeria! It’s a great way to end the meal. This pizza was 2 servings for me. I can’t wait to go back!
